Power Positions in Lyric Writing

Posted by

·

Power positions are lines of lyric inside your song (and any song you listen to) that naturally command more of a listener’s attention.

Because of where they sit in the structure of a section, they are bathed in natural spotlights – a listener will hear them louder and clearer, feel the details you put there, and absorb the emotion of those lines far more than any other lines inside the song.

Knowing where they are is empowering: it means, as songwriters, we get to take the reigns, and use this knowledge to put our most important lines right into the spotlights where they belong.

This video tutorial shows you exactly what they are, where they are, and how to use them.

Enjoy.
