Keppie and Benny have taught thousands of students and songwriters around the world at:

We’re combining our 20+ years experience as professional songwriters, with our 15+ years as professional educators to help you short-cut to the most helpful, relevant, and efficient path to writing your best songs.
When your passion for songwriting isn’t quite enough.
As songwriters, we know the value of our creative practice that we treasure, but it’s hard to keep it up, even when you love it.
Here’s what gets in the way:
- It’s frustrating and isolating to work on something with no immediate pay-off. It can feel indulgent, or silly, or sometimes even shameful.
- It’s hard to be consistent. To find the time, or make the time, to work on our work.
- It’s a challenge to finish the songs we start. Inspiration often gets us going, but it’s not what’s needed to finish all those songs you start.
- You don’t know if your work is any good. It’s hard to know what to do with songs you know could be better. It’s hard to know where to go to get feedback, from a trusted source, who will hold your heart gently and give you kind, specific, and actionable guidance.
When we are not doing our precious creative work, it is very rarely a lack of inspiration or talent. And we can’t blame lack of motivation either (you’re here because you want to do it!).
The truth is, we don’t write the songs we dream of because:
No one cares if we do it.
No one cares when we do it.
Few people understand why we do it.
And the result? Letting more time pass before we commit to our creative life, which means you never share your message with the world, and are left wondering “what if?”
Sometimes a course on its own isn’t enough.
The Songwriting Accelerator isn’t just a “course”.
We’re here to give you:
- Accountability – so that you actually write your songs, which means your work can be heard.
- Deadlines – so that getting your work released doesn’t take years or decades, which means you can create and release more work.
- Feedback – so that you can improve your songs, which means they’ll be the best they can be.
- Community – so that you can be supported, encouraged, and inspired by a group of mentors and peers, which means you will stay motivated to write over the long-term.
We and our team want to support you in your creative life, to write songs you are proud of, have confidence in your songwriting going forward, with an actionable plan for how to record and release your music, so that your voice is heard.
What songwriters in our community have to say:
I find it hard to say how much my songwriting has improved since I joined…I feel like I’m able to get my songs about 80% of the way there, and the feedback from Keppie and Benny help to steer that last vital 20%, that I wouldn’t have been able to do on my own.

Mikey Fowler
West Virginia, USA
I didn’t feel at all confident about my songwriting when I came to you…I already feel more confident about getting my first set of originals across the finish line and recording them. It means the world to me.

Duncan Ford
Sydney, Australia
You don’t have to do this alone.
With the HTWS Songwriting Accelerator, we want to make sure that you never again feel like you’re creating in a vacuum, writing songs all on your own.
Imagine this, instead:
- You are surrounded by a community of like-minded songwriters and mentors, who match your level of motivation, and together, you inspire, encourage, and push each other to do your best work.
- You meet collaborators and co-writers around the world that develop into life-long friendships and collaborations.
- You have expert guides, teachers, and mentors holding you accountable, giving you real-time, personalized feedback and radically practical suggestions to improve your songs.
- Your creativity flourishes through having easy access to songwriting and music experts who answer your questions, and provide you with the right resources.
- You achieve your creative goals fast – not drag old goals over cold coals for years (or even decades!).
- You’re consistently writing songs you’re proud of, and eager to produce and release into the wider world.
- You have access to a global network of vetted professional producers, with a clear process and pathway to produce and release your songs, so that your songs can be heard by the world.
- You’re equipped with tools, techniques, and processes to reliably continue writing songs you love for years to come.
- You’re no longer at the whim of inspiration; instead, you’re confident that you could sit down on any day and write a song.
- When inspiration does strike, you know what to do with it – you can confidently take any idea to a completed song.
- You stop dreaming about the creative life you want; instead you’re living it.
Why us?
We have been teaching songwriting in world-class and globally recognized colleges and universities for over 15 years, including for The Berklee College of Music, the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the Australian College of the Arts, and more. Teaching others is not a “plan B” for us – it’s a calling, a passion, and a privilege, which has been sought out by the world’s best institutions of higher learning in contemporary music education.
Keppie’s original and co-written songs have been streamed over 10 million times in the past 3 years alone; an album of original work was commissioned by Penguin Random House in 2022; and in 2024 she was a featured artist on a Grammy-nominated album.
Benny is a founding member of internationally touring bluegrass band The Green Mohair Suits, and has been commissioned for major projects by Adobe, Cathay Pacific and Audible.
Our popular YouTube channel, How to Write Songs, has well over 100K subscribers, and almost 5 million views of our videos. Our unique ability to turn theory into practice with passion, humour, and joy, has inspired songwriters around the world.

How to write your best songs in as little as 6 weeks (around the rest of your life).
Here’s what’s involved in the 6-week program and beyond:
Each week’s 2-hour live Masterclass with Keppie and Benny is a high-level exploration of the week’s concepts. These live classes are highly interactive, loaded with actionable and repeatable processes, demonstrated with song examples, that become your tools for your creative life.
You’ll create a new body of work, by writing a new song each week. Each week has a specific songwriting project designed to put into practice the tools, techniques, and processes for the week. The curated projects are designed to hone your process, and give you the structure and accountability to move your creative goals forward.
Receive individual, personalized feedback by one of our expert team of songwriting mentors. They give you a methodical run-down of what’s working and why, and what can be implemented to make your song great. You’ll also get an audio recording of any suggested changes or alternatives.
In two 90-min workshops each week, songwriters from the group will have their songs reviewed with Keppie and Benny. Feedback is always kind, specific, and actionable—and feedback in the workshop is designed to illuminate the principles of great songwriting for everybody’s benefit.
Two 60-min facilitated accountability sessions each week will help you set goals, and carve out essential time to knuckle down and get to work! At the end of the sessions, we debrief and set our goals for the week. The two sessions are timed to cover all time zones.
Beyond 6 weeks: you’re part of our ongoing songwriter community.
Once the 6-week Accelerator is over, the community is not!
You’ll have access for 12 months to our HTWS Songwriting Community, where you can post works-in-progress for peer feedback, share ideas and resources, meet collaborators, and access 2x live group feedback sessions per month with Keppie and Benny!

Example of Weekly Schedule
The Masterclass and Song Feedback sessions are the Core Curriculum. All other sessions are drop-in. And remember: EVERY session is recorded, and the video replay is uploaded within a few hours to our learning platform – so you never need to worry if you can’t make any of the live sessions.

Will working with us really help you? Here’s what some of our past Accelerator songwriters have to say:
What I gained from the Accelerator: the transformation to having a routine that enables me to write songs, and better songs, regularly.

Annette H.
Switzerland
The best songwriting teachers I have ever had. Incredibly attuned to the difficulties songwriters can experience and exceptionally good at explaining the tools that can help.

Keith M.
Louisiana, USA
…the community, the accountability sessions, and your generosity with feedback – the long conversations exploring people’s songs and music together as a community felt wonderful and supportive.

Rajni
Amsterdam, Netherlands
I got actionable suggestions every week that I was able to use on the next songs I was writing. I really appreciate the high level attention and analysis.

Hosea
Arizona, USA
Okay, so working with us has clearly been beneficial to other songwriters. But is it right for me?
Well, it depends! There’s no silver bullet in songwriting. There’s no certificate to be gained. There are no ‘hacks’. No one can do the work for you.
We can help you save time and wasted energy by lending you our experience and expertise. We can give you a clear path, expert instruction, where every single thing is radically practical. Where every piece of information is only there to help you write better songs, and more often.
We will be there with you, helping wherever we can, but you have to put in the effort yourself.
Which raises the question:
Who is the HTWS Songwriting Accelerator not for?
The HTWS Songwriting Accelerator probably isn’t a good fit for you if:
- You’re not willing to put in the time and effort to commit to writing a song a week for at least 6 weeks.
- You’re looking for the ‘secret’ magic bullet, or the ‘hit formula’, without putting in time and effort into building your craft. There’s no secret here. It’s just about putting in the work, and doing it consistently.
- You’re primarily motivated by achieving wealth and fame through songwriting. Careers are built over the long term, with talent, craft, discipline, perseverance, luck, and kindness. This is not a ‘write a hit’ course. It’s a ‘write for life’ experience.
- You’re looking for bespoke, done-for-you service, or professional co-writers who will take your ideas and turn them into finished songs. Our goal is to provide as much expertise, input, guidance and assistance as possible, but we can’t make or finish your songs for you.
It’s also not for:
- Total beginners – if you’ve never written a whole song before, or would struggle to sit down today and write a draft of a song, there are other Workshops, courses, and offerings we run that will help you build that practice so that the Accelerator will be of great value to you in the future!
- People still learning to play an instrument – you will be asked to write a song every week, so if you are still learning chord shapes on your instrument, or struggle to play through a song to a consistent tempo, you may find more value in the Accelerator once your confidence is higher on your instrument.
The HTWS Songwriting Accelerator is for you if you want:
01
Process
You don’t really need more ‘content’—you want to fast-track the process.
02
Support
You don’t want to go it alone—you want to be in the company of mentors and peers who match your level of motivation.
03
Guidance
You understand the value of expert guidance and mentorship, and are willing to invest in yourself.
04
Growth
You are done wondering “what if?”, done with wondering how to progress, done with wasting time.
You don’t have to be the best singer or player. You don’t have to have written 100 songs. You don’t have to be under 25. You don’t have to dedicate all your time to this (you have kids, a job, other responsibilities—we get it!). It doesn’t need to be a career (though it might be!).
You simply need to be someone who wants to make songwriting a more integrated part of your life, and have confidence in yourself to write regularly, consistently, and you want the support of expert mentors, and a community of like-minds to help you.

Only accepting a small number of songwriters.
To make this experience exceptional and transformational, we are strictly limiting the number of participants.
- The Accelerator Pass is limited to 25 people.
- The Platinum Pass is limited to 10 places.

Our EPIC 100% satisfaction guarantee
We want the investment in this program to be an easy ‘yes!’ for you – if you’re prepared to do the work, we want to support you to write your best songs! We don’t want your money if you honestly feel this program is not for you.
If you’re not 100% satisfied after participating for 30 days, we’ll give you a full refund. Join us today and give yourself the gift of the program, but if it turns out that you don’t see value in it and you’ve taken 30 days to explore, then let me know and we’ll refund you in full (minus payment processing fees paid to external parties such as Stripe or PayPal).
Please remember that your progress is dependent on your willingness to do the work. With that in mind, refunds will only be issued if you have done the following: (a) completed 3 core weekly projects, and (b) submitted at least 3 songs for feedback.
If you’ve done those things, and for whatever reason aren’t 100% happy with your experience, drop us an email (within 30 days from the start of the program) and we’ll happily refund your entire payment (minus payment processing fees paid to external parties such as Stripe or PayPal).
FAQs
What are the dates of the program?
The next Accelerator will run in May-June 2026.
What is the expected time commitment of the program?
For the 6 weeks of the live program, there will be 3 to 4 live sessions per week (with the weekly masterclass and individual feedback being the core of the program). All sessions will be recorded to give people the flexibility to attend live, but also to catch up on any sessions that are missed. There will be weekly songwriting projects, live feedback, personal feedback each week, and accountability songwriting sessions (ie scheduled times to meet, set a goal for the next 60 minutes, and knuckle into creative work). For someone committed to the ‘core’ curriculum, we anticipate a time commitment of 4-6 hours per week. For someone eager to attend and watch and participate in all sessions, to go the extra mile, and extract all the value offered during the 6 weeks, we would expect a weekly time commitment of 8-10 hours.
I’m a professional/beginner, is this for me?
Enrollment in the Songwriting Accelerator is not based on experience, but rather on your level of motivation and your goals. It is for any songwriter who wants to more rapidly move the dial on their creative output, wants to feel more confident in their process, wants a network of like-minds around the world, and wants to be writing and releasing more of their own music. With that said: it is not intended for beginners. If you have never written a whole song, or are still in the process of learning an instrument or a DAW on which to write songs, there are other workshops, courses, and groups that will help prepare you more for the Accelerator.
Is there any genre restriction?
There is no genre restriction – the Accelerator will focus on songwriting process, rather than any genre-specifics. With that said, when we talk about ‘songwriting’, we are talking about musical composition that involves lyrics, melody, chords, and song form. There may be genres where other elements are more important – but even within those genres (hip hop or heavy metal for example), if your interest is in crafting stronger lyrics, melodic sections, achieving greater contrast and dynamic interest in your songs and songwriting, that absolutely falls within the bounds of what we’ll be doing.
I want to participate, but can’t afford to pay the full fee up front. Is there a payment plan option?
Yes—we have a payment plan that breaks the fee into 3 instalments over a 3-month period for the Accelerator Pass only. The payment plan is only available until Oct 20th 2024 9pm EDT, and carries a 7.5% surcharge to cover our costs and allow us to offer this option. We’ve kept this below the standard 15% to be able to offer it to those wishing to join.
What’s the most important and valuable part of the program?
The weekly 2-hour masterclass, and the weekly (invaluable) opportunity to submit a song for feedback..
Is there a selection process?
The limited spots are available first come first serve. Our intention is to clearly communicate who the program is intended for, and who it is not intended for (for example, it’s not intended for total beginners, or people just learning an instrument – it is intended for people who have had a songwriting practice for a while, and know that they would move a lot faster towards their goals with structure, accountability, high-level feedback, a community of peers of equal motivation, and access to producers and strategy around release of their music). If you have not written a complete song before, or are still learning to play an instrument, you’ll benefit more from one of our other offerings or courses.
Will there be classes in my time zone?
The weekly live Masterclasses will take place on Sunday afternoons/evening in the USA, and nighttime in Europe. If you are in Sydney or Oceania, this would be a Monday morning in your time zone.
The weekly live group feedback sessions and accountability sessions will take place twice a week, covering time zones to include afternoons/evenings in the USA, and mornings for EU, and mornings and midday for Oceania. Please refer to the schedule above.
Your 1:1 feedback on your weekly project will not be live; instead you’ll receive your feedback in written/video format, so time zone is not an issue!
For those with Platinum Access, we’ll make a time suitable for your personal meetings with Keppie and Benny. We’ll also work with you to customize this, so that we meet either once a week for 30 mins, or every 2 weeks for an hour.
What happens if I miss a live class?
Life happens! All live sessions will be recorded, so that if you do ever miss one for whatever reason, you’ll be able to watch the replay within an hour of the session taking place.
How long will I have access to the materials for?
For Accelerator Access songwriters, you’ll have access to the materials for 12 months after the end of the 6-week program. For Platinum Access members, you’ll have access for as long as the community exists!
Will we be doing any co-writing or collaborating?
The goal is to make this experience what you want and need it to be. We will make co-writing and collaboration opportunities available to those that want it, but without any expectation to participate in that if you are more of a solo pilot!
Can I get a song produced at the end?
We have a vetted list of producers we have worked with and love that we will provide. We have also built a partnership with The Online Recording Studio (TORS), which is based on our wonderful experience using their services. TORS offers remote access to their roster of professional producers. Their team can work to partner you with the perfect producer to bring your artistic vision for your song to life. TORS have offered our community an exclusive 20% discount to their services. Please note that the Accelerator does not include production services – these are a separate offering you can access.
Who owns the copyright to songs I write and share during the program?
You will always own the copyright in your own original work. Any suggestions made by the HTWS team or other participants are done so with no claim to copyright. The only circumstance where a co-writing arrangement may come into play is if there is an explicit and mutual agreement between 2 or more songwriters to collaborate on new work and share the copyrights on the resulting work created.
“I feel so incredibly lucky and overwhelmed, in such an amazing way, by the live feedback session today, and the Chorus Workshop I’ve attended so far. You are so inspiring, Keppie! Thank you for all the feedback I got on the song I brought in, and also for the tips, resources, and of course a big thank you for listening!”
